3. Terry Taylor (The Red Rooster)

Wrestling for legendary bookers Eddie Graham and Bill Watts in the 1980s, Terry Taylor had made a name for himself as a reliable in-ring performer. Holding NWA gold on multiple occasions, Taylor began to excel in Mid-South Wrestling and eventually won the company's grand prize by defeating Ted DiBiase in 1985. After a few more years of success and with Vince McMahon eroding the territory system, it made sense that Taylor would make his way to the WWF in 1988.

Originally debuting as a heel character under the tutelage of the best manager of that era, Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan, Taylor was rebranded as 'The Red Rooster' and was treated as a rookie who needed Heenan's guidance to win matches. When he broke out of 'Brain's' grasp and struck out on his own, Terry's career plummeted faster than a falling elevator.

After turning face, The Rooster began to take his name literally, much to the disappointment of everybody. Taylor dressed in red tights, strutted and bobbed his head on the way to the ring, and had a red streak in his hair spiked up to look like a rooster. It didn't work for anyone, least of all Taylor himself.
