15 MORE Wrestlers WWE Debuted In The Worst Way Possible
4. The Red Rooster
Terry Taylor was a journeyman wrestler who held championships in Mid South wrestling, World Class Championship Wrestling and more across the 1980s, and WWE's master plan was to turn him into a human rooster. The 1980s had so many gimmicks and larger-than-life characters, but the idea of asking a man to be a human cockerel may have been pushing it just a touch.
His stint as The Red Rooster would involve him strutting his arms and jutting his head like a man doing "the funky chicken" in an attempt to generate heel heat when making his debut in 1988. He was then asked to do the same, while smiling and donning a sequinned jacket, to try and make it work as a babyface.
Suffice to say, neither of these things worked for a man who'd previously had great regional feuds with the likes of Kevin Von Erich. This may have had a disastrous impact on Taylor's in-ring career, but there is something of a happy ending for the former man-sized rooster, as Taylor has worked for WWE since 2017 as part of Shawn Michaels' NXT team.
