9 Next Steps For Roman Reigns After Winning The WWE US Title

Will this US title win be a stepping stone to bigger and better things?

In something of a change from recent norms, Roman Reigns hasn’t had a great deal to celebrate over the course of the past few months.

It all started back in June of this year, when was slapped with a 30-day suspension for violating the company’s Wellness Policy. Then, having served his time on the sidelines, his eventual return to in-ring business resulted in a pair of back-to-back defeats; first at Battleground when he was pinned by Dean Ambrose, and again on Raw the following night when he lost clean to a debuting Finn Balor.

Since then though, Reigns has slowly slipped away from the top-tier title scene and eventually found success in the United States Championship picture. Having beaten Rusev to capture that belt at Clash of Champions on Sunday, Reigns’ future is now looking a little brighter after his slight fall from grace over the summer.

But what exactly could that future hold? This article takes a speculative glance at what may come as we count down some potential next steps that Reigns could pursue in light of his recent United States Championship success.

9. Remain Babyface

First things first and, for better or worse, it seems that Roman Reigns’ most immediate next step will be to continue performing as a babyface.

During those aforementioned summer months, it looked like the company may have been toying with the idea of ditching the Roman Reigns face push. On top of the fact that he was tangling with other good guys like Ambrose and Balor, it also felt like he was starting to develop a slightly more attitudinal side to his character.

Ultimately though, it didn’t amount to anything. Since switching his attention to Rusev and the US title, Reigns has once again been cast as the face irrespective of whether he has the audience’s full backing or not.

Though the boos persist, I personally feel like he's shown an improvement in recent months, almost as though the move away from the main event spotlight has afforded him the freedom to be more natural and confident.

Still, regardless of what I think, it’s the company that gets the final say; and based on his journey to winning the belt, it looks like they’ll continue to push Roman Reigns as a babyface in light of his US title win.
