9 Things SummerSlam Must Do To Eclipse NXT Brooklyn

5. No Shenanigans In Styles Vs. Owens

Looking down the SummerSlam card, and from a purely technical point of view, the United States Championship bout between AJ Styles and Kevin Owens is probably the best-placed candidate to go down as match of the night.

At NXT Brooklyn, Gargano vs. Almas and Asuka vs. Ember Moon featured some top-notch mat-based action, but Styles and Owens have all the potential in the world to match and even eclipse that.

For that to remain the case though, the company needs to resist the temptation to taint the match with shenanigans. So far in this feud, we’ve been subjected to dodgy refereeing calls and a lackluster finish in their Battleground meeting, so in what will likely be the blowoff to the rivalry, it would be best to keep this finish a clean one.

That’ll be easier said than done, mind. Shane McMahon just so happens to be the special guest referee, and it seems unlikely he’ll remain entirely impartial and avoid getting involved in some way...
