Andrade has revealed that he was on a WWE contract worth $3 million a year before leaving the promotion last week.

The former NXT and United States Champion divulged this in his first post-WWE interview. Speaking with Lucha Libre Online, he said the following (h/t Fightful for the transcription, Carlos Toro for the translation):-

“I’ve been with WWE. I had a great contract with WWE, a great contract. Three million per year. Several million dollars per year, a lot more than plenty of guys coming up from NXT. I heard about some of those contracts. I made a lot more than those guys."

Last week saw Andrade's friend (and fellow former WWE wrestler) Epico claim that Andrade's decision to ask for his WWE release had nothing to do with money. Evidently, this is true.

The public timeline leading to Andrade's WWE release began in early March, when it was reported he had requested to be let go from the promotion. An inevitable follow-up was soon issued, stating the request had been denied, before WWE changed their minds the following week, making the uncharacteristic move of turning Andrade loose onto the free agent market - without a 90-day non-compete clause.

Andrade's first big post-WWE move is yet to be announced.
