The former Universal Champion had been heavily linked to AEW since news of his expiring contract broke in the summer, even going so far as teasing the jump himself. But the AEW locker-room, like WWE's, has been largely positive as well, with almost everybody happy for the 37-year-old.

"Anyone who knows Kevin knows his priorities are with his family first, so you have to be happy for him," said one of Fightful's AEW sources. Owens cited this as one of his reasons for sticking with the market leaders.
