Every Original WWE NXT Black & Gold Roster Member - Where Are They Now?

28. Jake Carter

What was he doing at the time?

It's telling when the first thing to say about a wrestler is who their parent is/was, but Jake Carter's family tree ended up being the most unique thing about an otherwise-uneventful time in the WWE system. As the son of former WCW World Heavyweight Champion Vader, Jake Carter had the family instincts if not the 'Mastodon's killer ones.

Carter worked some tag team matches with his late Father, and Vader was possibly a fairly big part of the market leader's door being opened for him in the first place. In the end though, his career simply wasn't able to take off for any of the organisations he worked, including both of WWE's primary developmental systems during this time. A half-decent run in both FCW and NXT (he was on the winning team alongside Corey Graves on the second Full Sail edition of NXT against CJ Parker and Nick Rogers) still never resulted in his contract or indeed time with WWE being extended beyond 2013.

What is he doing now?

He worked what was - as of any visible records - his last match in June 2015, losing a singles match for Mid South Wrestling Alliance in Oklahoma, and appeared on camera in 2022 when he inducted Vader into the WWE Hall Of Fame. Absolutely no shame in giving the family business a go, just as there wasn't when he elected to walk away.
