Every Original WWE NXT Black & Gold Roster Member - Where Are They Now?
8. Tyson Kidd
What was he doing at the time?
Tyson Kidd was one of the biggest beneficiaries when NXT got the much-needed reboot in 2012. With experience that belied his years and nowhere near as many main roster scars as many of his contemporaries, he set about reinventing himself as a jerk heel on the developmental show. It worked so well that, by 2014, he was a vital cog in the main event scene right as the TakeOver brand took shape, and was so effective that he was brought back to Raw and SmackDown as part of a cult favourite tag unit with Cesaro.
What is he doing now?
An untimely injury suffered against Samoa Joe in the 'Samoan Submission Machine's house show debut with the company put paid to Tyson Kidd's prodigious wrestling career at just 35, but he's remained directly attached to the industry ever since. He retired officially in 2017, but it was far from the end of his wrestling story.
Switching from talent to office (or at least trying to walk the tightrope), Kidd became a match producer and has been celebrated in particular for some of his efforts within WWE's ever-changing women's division. Now completely entrenched in that side of things, his training school alongside wife Nattie Neidhart has been toasted as one of the very best for those trying to break in and break through.
