7. The Ascension

What were they doing at the time?

Flexing their throwback gimmick and cool entrance and destroying teams the old fashioned way. 

The Ascension were a back-to-basics act, but during a period when the basics were routinely being smashed to smithereens on the main roster. There was something doubly pleasing about the simplicity. A stable and a tag team at various points, they were fined down to a point by the time NXT hit the (limited airwaves), with Conor O'Brian & Kenneth Cameron bringing the gimmick to life with impressive early squashes.

Soon though, necessary change was afoot. Cameron (better known as Bram in Impact Wrestling following his release from the company in 2012), was let go amidst various charges including battery of a law enforcement officer, driving under the influence and disorderly intoxication. Not the nicest things to read about a person, but it goes some way to explaining how he found himself ousted from the role just as the unit were on the verge of a sizeable push. Rick Victor (more on him shortly) took the spot.

What are they doing now?

As "Kon" and/or "Big Kon" the former Connor "Konnor" O'Brian has carved out a monster spot on the indies and for the likes of TNA since getting his release alongside Rick "Viktor" Victor in 2019.
