How Good Was Brock Lesnar Actually?

2. Drawing Power

'The Beast' has headlined WrestleMania 5 times. For the record, that’s more than Bret Hart, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins and Randy Savage, and as many times as The Undertaker.

In the doldrums of the 2010s, Brock was one of the only true box office draws that WWE could rely on. The whole argument for Brock being the man to beat 'Taker’s streak was that it would make him WWE’s “end of level” boss for the foreseeable future, something that worked relatively successfully. Not only did Brock draw major money during this difficult period, but he also gave WWE an enormous boost in credibility that they sorely lacked in their product during that time.

This street cred is worth mentioning when it comes to Brock’s relevance as a box office draw, as he was a huge star for the UFC too. His UFC 100 fight with Frank Mir drew a massive 1.6 million buys, and still boasts the biggest UFC PPV buy rate not to include Conor McGregor.

When WWE inked their $1 billion deal with FOX to take SmackDown to the US broadcasting giant, Brock Lesnar winning the WWE Title in an incredibly galling fashion from Kofi Kingston was what Vince McMahon chose to lead with as his headline attraction.
