John Cena Says He'll NEVER Bump Again (WWE News)
Retired WWE legend John Cena says he doesn't want to confuse the audience.
John Cena admitted that he's still figuring out the best ways WWE can use him post-retirement during an appearance on 'Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend'. However, the retired legend knows one thing: He doesn't really want to be taking bumps anymore.
Rather definitively, Cena stated: "I’m not going back to falling down". He wants to carve a fresh path for himself in the company and balance that with an increased workload in Hollywood. John revealed that he's mindful of confusing the core audience whenever he shows back up, because he doesn't want them to think that there's any chance of something physical.
Matches are out of the question too. Cena is super serious about staying retired.
Wrestling fans will always be doubtful about statements like that, because they've heard icons like Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley, Terry Funk and others say similar over the years. Typically, most pro wrestlers return for something physical in some form or fashion, but John is determined that he won't.
He told O'Brien that this is why he wears a suit on WWE TV nowadays. The multi-time World Champion wants to make it crystal clear to everyone watching that he's there in a strictly non-competitive role. "I’m far more of a promoter and salesperson", he added.
People are still waiting to find out the details regarding Cena's bespoke tournament. He announced the John Cena Classic at Backlash in May, but WWE has gone pretty quiet on it since. Recent rumours suggest that the company has circled December for the JCC.
