One MIND-BLOWING Secret From EVERY WWE WrestleMania

2. WrestleMania 40 | A Long-Term Culture War Was Settled (Sort Of)

Which team is better: the Young Bucks or the Usos?

A question that cannot be answered was actually answered, in a way, on April 6, 2024.

Jey Uso Vs. Jimmy Uso was a catastrophe of a match at WrestleMania 40. It was a tedious and mausoleum-quiet thrust kick duel, interrupted only by the trite melodrama of Jimmy pretending to ask for forgiveness. Jey Uso was dumb enough to believe him, too.

Jey Uso was also dumb enough to blame the duration of the match for its savaged critical reception. He has spoken to multiple media outlets expressing his disappointment that the match was cut short. “We didn’t even get to smash a barricade,” Jey might have said glumly. While it is difficult to craft an epic tale of brother versus brother without an epic run-time, it’s even harder to craft an epic tale of brother versus brother when your surname is Uso. Neither brother is particularly good. The match might have sucked if it went even longer. Jey Uso wouldn’t get a second wind. He barely has one in the first place.

You’ll never be able to convince anybody that one wrestler is better than another, because that simply is not how taste works. If you’re somewhat reasonable, though, you have to concede that, on this evidence, the Young Bucks are better workers in the old-fashioned sense. The Usos had their time cut at WrestleMania and had no clue how to put something acceptable together. The Bucks had their time cut at the inaugural All In - by a third - and improvised a sensational match on the fly.

Both matches went 11 minutes.

Both were cut for time.

One match was one of the worst WrestleMania matches ever.

The other was an exhilarating and complex main event put together as it unfolded.
