Report: A "Decent Number" Of People In WWE Think AEW Is The Better Product (WWE News)
Some behind the scenes at WWE believe Tony Khan is putting on better shows right now...
Self Made Pro is claiming that "plenty of people" behind the scenes at WWE believe rival company AEW is currently producing the superior product across the board. However, the podcast also suggested that some higher up the food chain "would dismiss AEW’s product and act like it doesn’t have much merit".
They pointed out that Triple H quasi-praised Tony Khan's promotion when he took creative control on WWE's side back in 2022. It was largely believed back then that Hunter needed to shed the approach Vince McMahon had taken since All Elite's launch; obviously, the closed door pandemic days were strange in the industry generally, but WWE needed to freshen up or face the consequences.
That happened, but now Self Made Pro's sources internally tell them that things might've taken a slight wobble. That's reflected in the scattered build towards this year's WrestleMania 42. WWE, Trips and his creative team as a whole have gone back and forth on some key decisions, or at least that's how it appears when tuning into Raw or SmackDown.
'Mania 42 hasn't been a banner example of outstanding pre-planning, put it that way.
Generally, WWE has improved from where it was in 2019 (for example), but the ruthless business strategies of TKO do leave a bad taste in the mouths of many. There's a sense amongst many fans that they aren't getting enough bang for their buck these days, especially when faced with astronomical ticket prices.
Meanwhile, AEW is trying to find its own groove after years of dipping television ratings and far too many PR disasters.
