Roman Reigns Drops The Most Personal Promo Of His Life, WrestleMania 42 Main Event Set (WWE News)
Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk is set for WWE WrestleMania 42.
With Roman Reigns winning the men's Royal Rumble this past weekend, the OTC wasted no time in choosing his WrestleMania 42 opponent, closing out last night's WWE Raw by selecting CM Punk as the person he'll face at Allegiant Stadium in April.
That Roman chose Punk wasn't too much of a surprise, but the way that the Head of the Table did so was a little more personal than some may have expected.
Raw's final segment had Reigns head out to the ring, only to be interrupted by the Second City Saint. From there, Punk implored Roman not to take the easy option of picking WWE Champion Drew McIntyre as his WrestleMania 42 opponent, and to instead come after the World Heavyweight Championship that the Chicagoan had around his waist.
Roman Reigns did eventually settle on CM Punk as his 'Mania 42 opponent by the time the show closed, but before making that decision, the Tribal Chief mocked Punker for taking a ten-year "vacation", called him an example of what not to do, took a shot at Punk's infamous appearance on Colt Cabana's The Art of Wrestling podcast after his WWE exit in 2014, and lambasted the Straight-Edge Superstar for taking Roman's "wiseman", brainwashing his cousins, and even brainwashing Roman himself with a handshake at last year's Survivor Series.
To make things even more personal, Reigns said that he's choosing CM Punk not because he's the biggest star or that he's on the biggest show - Raw on Netflix - but because Roman hates Punk, and that the Best in the World would "acknowledge" Reigns at WrestleMania 42. And with that, one of WrestleMania 42's major attractions was set, with it likely that Punk vs. Reigns will be the Night 2 main event at this year's Showcase of the Immortals.
