Sami Zayn Signs New WWE Contract
Sami Zayn joins eternal friend/rival Kevin Owens in pledging his future to WWE.
Sami Zayn has signed a new WWE contract, ending speculation on his pro wrestling future.
This is according to Fightful Select. There's currently no word on the exact length of the former El Generico's new deal, though he is believed to have re-upped with the market leaders for several years.
One of the outlet's sources notes that Zayn kept details of his contract negotiations private, though WWE had made it apparent that they wanted to keep hold of him.
December saw The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer report that word that Zayn had re-signed with WWE was a hot locker-room topic. Fightful's report effectively confirms that rumour.
Zayn's previous contract was believed to be up sometime in late 2021 or early 2022, depending on potential time added on due to inactivity. Now, like friend-turned-enemy-turned-friend-turned-enemy Kevin Owens, Sami has pledged his future to Vince McMahon's promotion.
The 37-year-old has been with WWE since signing a developmental deal back in 2013. Though his run has taken several major twists and turns along the way, he maintains a steady presence on television to this day, having thrived as a midcard heel since turning in 2019. Sami can currently be found feuding with Jackass' Johnny Knoxville on SmackDown.
