There is talk going around the WWE locker room that Sami Zayn has signed a new contract with the promotion.

This is according to Dave Meltzer, who writes in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter that despite the backstage chatter, WWE sources have not yet indicated that Zayn has re-signed.

Sami's latest WWE contract was believed to be up sometime in late 20221/early 2022, depending on time added on due to inactivity. He would have likely become a free agent at the same time as long-time friend/onscreen rival Kevin Owens, whose previous deal ran out in late January 2022. As confirmed this week, KO has since agreed a new three-year WWE deal, which Meltzer believes will pay him something in the region of $2-3 million per year.

Meltzer states that if Sami has re-signed, his new numbers are unknown. Like Owens, however, his new deal would be unlikely to include a "no cut" clause protecting him from being let go by the promotion prior to his contract's expiry date.

Zayn, who has been with WWE since signing in 2013, has been featured prominently in recent weeks, hovering around the Universal Title storyline with Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns.
