With it reported earlier this month that Sheamus was on his way out of WWE, we now have some more detailed information on what exactly the Celtic Warrior will become a free agent.

Previously, it was reported that Sheamus was offered a "restructured" contract, essentially being asked to take a pay cut to remain with WWE. That offer was "swiftly" rejected by the Irish veteran, and so his 19-year run with the market leader was coming to an end.

On that topic, Fightful Select reports that Sheamus is still under contract with WWE, and that he'll become a free agent on October 1st. This report also notes that the offer of a restructured new contract wasn't presented to the 48-year-old as an "ultimatum", unlike what was the case with certain other talents in similar positions.

For Sheamus, this brings an end to a run that dates all the way back to 2007, when he, Drew McIntyre, and Wade Barrett were signed by WWE after impressing during a UK tryout. Initially spending time in the Florida Championship Wrestling developmental system, Sheamus would debut on the relaunched ECW in June 2009, and he'd shock the world by defeating John Cena to become WWE Champion at the TLC PPV that December.

During his time with WWE, Sheamus goes down as the most successful European wrestler in company history, winning a total of four World Championships, having three runs as the United States Champion, a five-time Tag Team Champion, a Royal Rumble winner, a King of the Ring winner, and a Money in the Bank winner.
