The Funniest Wrestling Story OF 2026 Just Took A New Twist (AEW News)
More details on Jacques Rougeau's "temper tantrum" at AEW Redemption.
With Jacques Rougeau having reportedly thrown a "temper tantrum" at AEW Redemption last month, there are now a few more details on the specifics of all of this.
Of course, the Redemption pre-show saw the Rougeau family honoured at Montreal, Quebec's Bell Centre, complete with Jacques and Raymond Rougeau saying a few words. In the days following Redemption, it was reported that Jacques was nearly kicked out of the building earlier in the day after a loud, angry tantrum over AEW's decision not to use a video that he'd prepared. As for that video, it was rejected for being too long, for featuring footage and music that AEW didn't have the rights to, and for using AI.
In an update on this, the latest Wrestling Observer Radio saw Dave Meltzer get into a little more specifics, reiterating the AI usage, unlicensed music, and footage that was originally believed to be WWE-owned footage of Jacques pinning Hulk Hogan at a WCW event. Meltzer has since issued a correction, adding that the Jacques and Hogan action was actually from a show promoted by Jacques, PCO, Tony Mule, and Cookie Lazarus. WCW talent was on that show, and WCW was paid a fee by the promoters, though it's unclear where the rights for that footage stand, and AEW lawyers couldn't verify that matter in time for Redemption.
While everything is said to be "fine" now between Jacques Rougeau and AEW, things got so heated at Redemption that the Bell Centre security team were aware of Rougeau's outrage, and it appears there was a very real chance of the former WWE Intercontinental Champion and three-time WWE Tag Team Champion being kicked out of the building. Fortunately, that didn't happen, and Jacques was able to celebrate his family's achievements with the Bell Centre crowd... even if he was heavily booed by those fans, who he subsequently told to kiss his ass.
