Wrestling Legend Had "Temper Tantrum" Backstage At AEW Redemption (AEW News)
Tony Khan's staff threatened to kick Jacques Rougeau out before AEW's Redemption pay-per-view.
The Wrestling Observer has revealed that Jacques Rougeau threw an embarrassing "temper tantrum" behind the scenes at AEW's recent Redemption pay-per-view. Rougeau was angry that the company elected not to play a video he'd had made honouring the family during their ceremonial segment on the 'Zero Hour' pre-show.
AEW didn't want to air the vid because (according to Dave Meltzer) it "was too long, had footage [they] didn’t have rights to, music that [they] didn’t have rights to and some AI stuff in it that AEW didn’t want to use". That irked Jacques, and he kicked up quite the fuss about things.
His tantrum was so loud and unruly that All Elite staff nearly kicked him out of the building.
The Rougeau family segment didn't go as planned on the night for multiple reasons. Bizarrely, Jacques went heel on the live crowd when they booed him. He cut a promo on the fans and appeared to lean into a villain role, which was awkward considering this was supposed to be a feel good segment.
Meltzer explained that Jacques has "also developed a bad reputation" over the years for his antics/behaviour. He isn't well liked by a lot of folks locally in Montreal due to that, so this was arguably always going to blow up in AEW's face.
Thankfully, Rougeau calmed down enough that Tony Khan didn't need to have him ejected from the Bell Centre after all. It'd be very surprising if Jacques was ever invited back again though. He didn't cover himself in glory.
