3. MMA Rules Sinks (2023)

One last bit of Rousey bashing, honest.

Man, she was involved in some rotten SummerSlam stinkers, huh? Ronda saved her worst for last when going up against real-life pal and former tag partner Shayna Baszler in 2023. Their 'MMA Rules' showing will always be viewed as one of the worst PPV/PLE matches WWE has ever put on.

It was a frankly rubbish way for Ronda to bow out of her second run with the company, and creative didn’t even do anything with Shayna afterwards anyway. We're talking 0/10 levels of success rate between these 2 women here. If this was supposed to reposition Baszler as a star worth taking seriously, then it was a miserable flop.

Shayna and Rousey didn't 'WWE up' their fight. No, they slowed things down and performed some realistic (albeit still worked) mat work as both jockeyed for position on the canvas. Throughout, a bored 50,000+ in Detroit's Ford Field yawned and chatted amongst themselves.

A supposedly intense mixed martial arts showcase between former teammates was reduced to the dreaded pee break spot on the card. Nothing else came close to it, not even LA Knight winning a 25-man Battle Royal sponsored by Slim Jim. That was WWE bliss compared to this utter crud.

There's a fair chance that Rousey will never work another match for the promotion, which is a shame. Departing on such a low note, and in a match designed to show off what you do well, told the full story of somebody who'd washed her hands of WWE life.
