They've always been aware of the fans' thoughts on Roman Reigns, and they no doubt wanted to dispel the stink of predictability that preceded the main event.
And so, in a match where the smart money was on either Sami Zayn or Kevin Owens, the big closing swerve had The Long Island Afterthought holding the belt. The message was simply See? Anything can happen!
It was definitely a fun win for the fans, and therein lay the real question: does the company actually have plans for Ryder, or was this simply the juiciest piece of fan bait WWE could think of? Knowing this creative team...
