WWE Royal Rumble 2026: 5 Shocks WWE Could Pull
2. The Rock Costs Roman Reigns
Attention, Dwayne Johnson: You've got a fair bit of making up to do yourself. WWE's fanbase wasn't chuffed when The Rock was posted missing after John Cena's shocking heel turn at Elimination Chamber 2025. Dwayne was barely even part of the story after that, and his absence forced everyone to stomach Travis Scott's run in during the Cena vs. Cody Rhodes main event at 'Mania 41 instead.
Gee, thanks for that Rocky!
Rock's comeback feels inevitable, and so does an eventual showdown with Roman Reigns. A lot has changed since this was on the table as a possible WWE Title headliner for the biggest weekender of the year, but Triple H would almost definitely still be interested in putting Rock and Roman in the ring together as adversaries.
To get there, The Rock would need to jet out to Saudi Arabia and cost Reigns this year's Royal Rumble. Please note, this text isn't suggesting that Rocky is in the 30-man Rumble himself, but his music could still hit and confuse the hell out of everyone. At first, he'd be there to cheerlead for Roman, but that'd be a front for his real intentions.
The 'Final Boss' would then pull down the rope and eliminate his old Bloodline pal. Bonus points if The Rock's music cuts off Roman's entrance too. That'd leave the 'OTC' incensed on TV afterwards, because he'd realise that Johnson was only there to hog the spotlight and ruin his latest stab at becoming the main man around here.
At this point, it's always gonna be a surprise if Rock shows face. He's been skipping school a bit too much over the past 12 months.
