WWE Still Hoping To Re-Sign Daniel Bryan?
WWE hasn't given up hope on Daniel Bryan, but AEW have other plans...
It seems WWE haven't entirely given up on Daniel Bryan.
Per PWInsider's Dave Scherer, the promotion still hopes to have its former World Champion as part of its roster, though he technically isn't with the company anymore. The 40-year-old is currently a free agent following his last WWE contract's expiration after a career vs. title match with Universal Champion Roman Reigns In April.
Bryan has been linked heavily with AEW in recent weeks. The situation has been described as "100% locked in" by sources of Bodyslam.net's Cassidy Haynes, with AEW's Grand Slam show at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City (22 September) pinpointed for a potential debut.
At this stage, it would be a big surprise if Bryan ended up anywhere but AEW. Dave Meltzer has commented that "unless something falls apart, they're both coming in," referring to Bryan and fellow free agent CM Punk, whose AEW debut also appears to be imminent.
An intermittent headliner throughout his 12-year WWE tenure and considered by many to be amongst the greatest wrestlers of all time, Bryan headlined WrestleMania 37 opposite Reigns and Edge in early April before leaving the company a few weeks later.
