WWE WrestleMania 42: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

10. Several Women’s Title Matches Sag

The women's division isn't in fine fettle heading into WrestleMania this year, not really. On paper, there should be plenty to get excited about, but the storytelling for some of these matches has been dreadful. Specifically, Jade Cargill vs. Rhea Ripley has been trundling along offering nothing worthwhile on episodes of SmackDown.

Both AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch and Stephanie Vaquer vs. Liv Morgan look a little more inspired, but all 3 have the potential to drag along across both nights at ‘Mania. Being honest, it's Vaquer vs. Morgan which might have to do most of the heavy lifting here, but WWE don’t want apathy or for these bouts to come across as outright boring come the weekend.

Yeah, good luck with that.

There's a very real chance that fans will only make some noise if Ripley beats Cargill for the Women's Title, or for Vaquer's 'Devil's Kiss' signature move (assuming she does it). There really doesn't appear to be enough juice behind a grudge bout like Lee vs. Lynch either. On the whole, WWE has done a woeful job of selling these title showdowns as must-see or worthy of the 'Mania platform.

None of these can hold a candle to epics like Rhea vs. Becky or IYO SKY vs. Bayley from 'Mania 40. Similarly, 41's Triple Threat between Ripley, SKY and Bianca Belair feels like a lifetime ago for the women's division. How on earth did we get here?! It's not outlandish to predict some yawns in the house for this trio of 'blockbuster attractions', and that's a real shame.
