10 Characters Who Have Defeated Thanos

If there's any one character who seems to be poised to deliver the final blow against Thanos in Avengers 4, it's Captain Marvel. With the post-credit tease of Nick Fury calling in a greater power, it appears that Captain Marvel will very much be filling the Adam Warlock-sized hole in the storyline.

In the comics, these two characters were often juxtaposed as long-time enemies. In Captain Marvel #33, after being previously defeated by Thanos, Captain Marvel (the first one, known as Mar-Vell) returned to take on a Cosmic Cube-powered Thanos.

This time, Captain Marvel was able to best Thanos and defeat him so badly that even Death became ashamed of him. She abandoned him after this defeat, resulting in his death. He was later revived but even then, he was only mortal because Death was so ashamed of his defeat.

So there's a decent chance that audiences are going to be treated to the visual treat of Brie Larson absolutely kicking Thanos' ass. Honestly, what could be better than that?
