9. The Colour Yellow (Green Lanterns)

The Green Lanterns are a 7200 strong intergalactic army of law enforcers, each of whom wield a powerful willpower-fuelled ring that enables them to fly, grants them insane levels of durability and gives them the ability to create solid energy constructs of any items they can imagine (amongst various other esoteric powers).

They can survive in the harsh environments of space, take shots from beings more powerful than the likes of Superman and contain suns and black holes with their powers - but, for a while, the colour yellow rendered them utterly useless.

It doesn't apply these days, but there was a time when all it took to breach a Green Lantern shield was "being yellow" - a weakness exploited by the likes of Batman and Robin, who went to the trouble of painting themselves and the room around them yellow in order to defeat a Lantern in the pages of All-Star Batman & Robin. God forbid you went at them with an HB pencil.
