11. The Fantastic Four

While this superhero group could have been broken up into four entries, it's hard to consider the members of the Fantastic Four without looking at the whole team. They made their first appearance in their debut title back in 1961 thanks to the writing talents of Stan Lee and the brilliant pencils of Jack Kirby.

Johnny Storm, Reed Richards, Benjamin Grimm and Susan Storm transformed in that issue to become the Human Torch, Mister Fantastic, The Thing, and the Invisible Woman, otherwise known as the Fantastic Four.

While the team's cinematic outings have been less-than favorable, their comics have been some of the most popular Marvel has ever published.

Marvel recently relaunched the Fantastic Four following a three year publishing hiatus, and fans couldn't be happier. The new series is flying off the shelves and the first family of Marvel is back to selling like hotcakes.

The Fantastic Four holds a place in many readers' hearts due to an overwhelming love for the characters. The FF helped usher in Marvel's Cosmic Universe and even introduced the likes of Doctor Doom, the Silver Surfer, and Galactus. That legacy alone is enough to call them the greatest superhero family Marvel has ever produced.
