4. Superior Spider-Man #21 by Dan Slott and Giuseppe Camuncoli (Marvel)
Angelina Brancale aka Stunner has made it out of her coma and is out to kill Spider-Man - the person she believes murdered her beloved Otto Octavius, unaware that Otto IS Spider-Man now. Meanwhile, Otto must deal with accusations from Dr Lamaze that he is ripping off Otto's work, which are stopping him from receiving his PhD, and Officer Carlie Cooper has uncovered the truth behind Spider-Man - he is Doc Ock! Dan Slott continues to deliciously toy around with Otto and his morals as Spider-Man, giving us a more dynamic story than you would've gotten with Peter Parker. Otto ruthlessly deals with both his former love and his former colleague to get what he wants, sacrificing the needs of the few for the needs of the many. Even when he's with Anna Maria there are moments when the old Otto peek through, choking on his rage at Lamaze's accusations as he begins plotting his revenge - "A retractable platform! Over some piranha? Or a kraken." - that I really enjoyed. Also, this issue concludes all of the storylines that have been going on for the last few comics - Otto's PhD matter is resolved, Stunner is dealt with, Carlie Cooper's quest is complete, and the storyline everyone's been hankering for looks to be told soon: the Goblin King! But in the next issue? Venom! How will Otto deal with this classic Spider-Man foe? I can't wait to find out! Great work, Dan and Giuseppe, keep it up!
