3. Captain America: Living Legend #3 by Andy Diggle and Agustin Alessio (Marvel)
I've rec'd every issue in this mini-series but it's so rare to read a Captain America comic this good that more people need to hear about it! A secret satellite called Deus has crashed out of orbit into Siberia and its sole survivor, Dr Lauren Fox, has joined Cap to locate the source of the problem. A Russian cosmonaut from the Cold War-era called Volkov seems to be causing vehicles and tech to fuse to nearby humans with the help of something extraterrestrial - Cap to the rescue! This comic is a lot bleaker than what you'd expect from Cap - the opening scene set in 1973 is really dark and seems suited to an X-Files episode prologue! Then we get these weird Transformers-esque/Angie the Engineer-type monsters and it's official - this is a Captain America horror comic! Cap discovers the vibranium in his shield defeats these monsters by disrupting whatever it is that turns them from humans to human/tech hybrids, and heads into the downed space hulk to slay Volkov - except when he throws his shield, the walls open up and it lands outside. And without the shield protecting him from turning him into a tech monster... yeah. Cap gets his monster on! Or does he...? Wonderfully written by Andy Diggle and beautifully drawn by Agustin Alessio, Captain America: Living Legend #3 is another excellent issue in this mini-series. Really atmospheric, tense storytelling with amazing art, this comic is great!
