5 Awesome Comics You Must Read This Week (30 October)

The Sandman It's been an exciting week for comics fans as a plethora of comics media has flooded every outlet. The latest instalment of the brilliant Batman game, Arkham Origins, came out last Friday and has been sucking up many, many hours of gamers' time (like yours truly), while new trailers for the eagerly awaited films Captain America: The Winter Soldier and X-Men: Days of Future Past came out, as did the trailer for DC's latest animated feature Justice League: War. Ben Kingsley even teased a future Marvel Studios project which, depending on your opinion of his performance in Iron Man 3, is either a good or bad thing. In non-movie comics news, Warren Ellis announced via Instagram that he would be releasing new comics in 2014. The legendary writer of such classics as Transmetropolitan and Planetary has been working on prose fiction like Gun Machine and Dead Pig Collector in recent years though recently wrote the Marvel graphic novel Avengers: Endless Wartime. Fans can expect more next year though whether it will be more Marvel stuff or not is unclear but Ellis will be co-writing some Avengers Assemble tie-ins for Marvel's next Event, Inhumanity, alongside Kelly Sue DeConnick. Bryan Hitch revealed his new series, Real Heroes, to be released by Image next year, and, as no other names are attached, I assume he will be both writing and drawing the comic. We found out that Loki would be bisexual in his forthcoming series, Loki: Agent of Asgard, and previews of Kieron Gillen and Adam Kubert's Wolverine: Origin II popped up everywhere! Most exciting of all for comics readers everywhere is that it's Wednesday which means new comics day - and what a selection we got! Marvel's X-Men: Battle of the Atom ended, Infinity is one issue away from its finale, the mini-series Deadpool Kills Deadpool wrapped, and a number of brilliant comics for ongoing series appeared. DC put out another Bat-title to add to the dozens-strong ranks, while it's sister publication, Vertigo, released one of the most anticipated comics of the year starring a particularly Dream-y chap. Plus it wouldn't be right not to include a seasonal comic this Halloween week, so I've got you covered with a real spooky treat from a master of horror. These are the Awesome Comics of the Week - let's get started! Wooooo!
