5 Notable Superhero Deaths In 2013

As everyone who reads comics knows, superheroes don't really die €“ but that doesn't stop Marvel and DC from killing them off for that spike in sales! Superhero comics are middle story €“ there's the origin, then the part when they're the superhero, and then it continues ad infinitum. Occasionally you'll get a superhero death storyline like the famous Death of Superman story from the early 90s, but they always come back because how could any publisher kill off a golden goose? 2013 saw a slew of superhero deaths (I can't put enough quotation marks around the word death so I won't even try), especially if you count Avengers Arena which was Battle Royale with Marvel characters. Of course the characters will come back at a later point, but the publishers made a big fuss over them and got the fans talking so they're worth noting. Some are implied, some are explicit, some are actually quite funny and one made headlines and a lot of readers very sad. Some of the characters in the article could be argued to be supervillains but they've actually been on both sides of the fence, and have been a superhero at one point in their career €“ sometimes fighting for good, sometimes for bad.
