New Star Wars Comic Reveals More About Last Jedi Planet

Storms of Crait will feature Luke and Leia in a leading role.

Marvel have been knocking it out of the park when it comes to Star Wars for over a year, and - having already bridged the gap between Episodes VI and VII in Greg Rucka's Shattered Empire - they're now looking to do the same with The Last Jedi.

Said bridging will occur in the upcoming Star Wars: The Storms of Crait, written and drawn by Ben Blacker, Ben Acker and Mike Mayhew. Situated during the Original Trilogy (but before Episode VI), the story will see Luke Skywalker team up with Leia Organa in an attempt to found a new Rebel base on Crait - a locale said to be heavily featured in Rian Johnson's upcoming film.

Marvel-ous editor Jordan D. White said that he's really "excited for the opportunity to tell this story... Tying the new sequel series in more tightly with the original trilogy era, and helping make the Galaxy Far Away a little more fleshed out."

White was also quick to sing the praises of the team involved with the new series, stating that "the Bens are a great fit for Star Wars, as they showed in Join the Resistance, and Mike has done such great work on both covers and the Obi-Wan issues of the flagship Star Wars title, that we couldn’t be happier to have him back doing art for us."

While the comic won't be releasing until December 27, a week after The Last Jedi drops that same month, Marvel have a proven record when it comes to a galaxy far, far away. Mayhew's art on those Kenobi issues were particularly brilliant, and while the Bens' comics resume is slightly more elusive, we've only heard good things about Join the Resistance.
