Prepare yourself for one of the most tense and grittiest gangster flicks in years as director John Hillcoat (The Proposition, The Road) delivers the action-packed thriller Lawless, released on Blu-Ray, DVD and to download on 14 January 2013, by Momentum Pictures.
We have three copies of the Blu-ray to give away to our readers.
Inspired by true events, Lawless is a powerful tale based on the historical novel The Wettest County in the World. The screenplay is written by Nick Cave (The Proposition) and features a original gritty music score by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis (The Assassination of Jesse James).
Lawless features stunning and powerful performances from Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises, Bronson), Shia LaBeouf(Transformers, Indiana Jones 4), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Jessica Chastain (The Help, The Tree of Life), Mia Wasikowska (Jane Eyre, Alice in Wonderland) and Guy Pearce (Prometheus, Memento).
Set in 1920’s prohibition America, Lawless is the true story of the Bondurant brothers. Brazen and fearless, these young rural bootleggers became legendary criminals. The youngest brother, Jack (LaBeouf), is ambitious and impulsive, the middle brother, Howard (Jason Clarke: Public Enemies, The Great Gatsby), is loyal but reckless and eldest brother, Forrest (Hardy), leads the family with a silent determination. As the Bondurants’ illicit business and legend grows, so too looms bigger fish, and it’s not long before the brothers must face the consequences.
Beautifully shot in a gritty and moody style, Lawless takes gangster films to a whole new level. It’s hard-hitting and packs one hell of a punch, leaving you on the edge of seat from start to finish.
