10 Actors Who Completely Wasted Their Careers

5. Katherine Heigl

The beautiful Katherine Heigl became a star on the TV series Grey's Anatomy, and while on the show she co-starred in the 2006 Judd Apatow comedy hit Knocked Up. Heigl seemed poised to follow in the romantic comedy footsteps of Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock with 27 Dresses and The Ugly Truth, but she started burning her bridges by complaining about the writing on Grey's Anatomy and insulting Apatow by saying Knocked Up was "a little sexist." Somewhat unfortunately for her image, the comments gave Heigl a reputation for being ungrateful. The romantic comedies that she has appeared in since, including Killers, New Year's Eve, and One For the Money, have generally underperformed, and she also has the distinction of starring in the lowest grossing movie of all time, 2006's Zyzzyx Road (which grossed $30). Add to that the persistent reports that she and her manager (her mom) are difficult to work with and it's no surprise that her stardom imploded. Her latest work is a TV commercial for sleep medication, which sums up her current status appropriately.
