Marvel Studios and Disney are finally getting back their characters from 20th Century Fox now that the merger is going through, but that presents something of a problem. Hugh Jackman has stated his last time popping the claws was in 2017's Logan, which means its time to find a new actor to take on the role.

Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, is currently looking for just such a player as he works behind the scenes to bring Marvel's merry band of Mutants back into the fold. While it's unlikely any new films will feature the Mutants for some time, they should start to emerge sometime after Fox's release of The New Mutants and Dark Phoenix, which is set for release in 2019.

Finding a replacement for Jackman is no easy task. The veteran actor played the character for nearly 20 years across a total of 10 films, which solidifies him in most fan's minds as the only live action Wolverine, but even ardent fans have to move on eventually.

There are dozens of capable actors who both have the looks, the muscle tone, and the acting skills to take on the role, but only a scant few are truly able to fill Jackman's shoes, but only a few are viable options...

10. Jensen Ackles

Jensen Ackles has played Dean Winchester on Supernatural for 14 seasons, and seeing as the series will end... eventually, it's likely he is on the lookout for a new role. Even if he sticks with the show for years more, that doesn't necessarily mean he can't become the next Wolverine, and it's something fans have been talking about online.

He's expressed a full range of emotion playing Dean throughout the years and has proven time and time again that he's a phenomenal actor. Fans of Supernatural, as well as Wolverine, have expressed an interest in seeing him play the part.

Ackles' career has predominantly been in the realm of television, though he has appeared in several movies. He voiced Jason Todd/Red Hood in Batman: Under the Red Hood and played Jason Teague on Smallville, so he's no stranger to the world of comics book acting... rumor has it he once auditioned to play the Dark Knight.

After playing two DC characters, it may be time for Ackles to pick up one of Marvel's most famous. While he is talked about online as a potential actor for the part, he may prove too old for Marvel/Disney to go his way. He turns 42 in March 2019, which may make him too old for the studio to cast him.
