10 Amazing Superhero Movies You'll Never See

Why hasn't there been a solo Black Widow film yet?

The release schedules are getting positively claustrophobic with the amount of superhero films set to clog up our multiplexes. Between 2015 and 2023 there are at least 23 blockbuster comic book adaptations headed to big screens, from the endless Avengers sequels and spin-offs to DC's own attempts to build up their own cinematic universe with the likes of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. It might seem like they're already scraping the bottom of the barrel with the likes of Ant-Man, but all of that's ignoring the staggering amount of superhero films that didn't get made. Seriously, if the amount of movies on the slate so far seems overwhelming, just compare it to the amount of potential films that never made it past the pre-production stage. A bunch of them are fairly well known - like, say, the absolutely bonkers sounding Superman reboot starring Nicolas Cage and some giant robot spiders - and many of them probably deserved to languish in development hell until there was nothing left. Then there are the lost projects that may, actually, have been pretty darn cool. Potential classics that disappeared into the void, interesting takes on existing characters, and blockbusters that never even got a chance. Here are the amazing superhero movies that, sadly, you'll never see.
