10 Art House Movies Which Are Thinly Veiled Smut

Outside of hardcore pornographic films, your chances of seeing cinematic smut comes either from the Grind House or the Art House. In fact, the art house wins hands down in the smut department and gets away with many things that could never be shown in a mainstream film or even in a horror film. This is because our moral guardians reason that educated middle class people watch art house films and because of their social status and level of intellect, they are less likely to be corrupted than a mainstream audience. Of course this is very patronising, but art house cinema has been getting away with absolute controversial filth for decades while the censors go snip happy over something as stupid as The Wedding Planner. Sometimes smut works in an art house film and sometimes it doesn't. I found that the trend for art house films (particularly French films) to include hardcore porn sequences doesn't necessarily mean that the resultant movies are going to be more sexy, more inventive, more profound and more realistic.
