10 Awesome Actors Who Don't Get Enough Credit

url Actors come in all degrees and levels of prestige. As movie-goers, we hope that the greatest ones claw their way to the top and get the great roles and scripts they deserve. Many times, this happens if the audience can be patient and wait for the next wave of talent to catch their break. In some cases, however, actors don't get the praise they deserve. This isn't to say they are unknown, or unappreciated. Many of them have strong fanbases, and do excellent and regular work, which is why they can be known as "awesome." This also shouldn't be taken to mean that these actors are flawless, some of them have some truly regrettable pieces under their belt. At the same time, many of these fantastic actors are not given the full credit they deserve for their performances. They remain less glorified, and audiences should be reminded that some actors who are not at the pinnacle of popularity are still brilliant in their own right. This list, as subjective as it may be, will cover a small fraction of those actors who, while often acknowledged as wonderful, are often taken for granted and not always represented as how talented they really are...

10. Romola Garai

Romola GaraiWhy She Is Awesome... Romola Garai is a regular in historical dramas, movie and television alike. She often plays strong, independent, and competent women. She's played the wife of the abolitionist William Wilberforce, she's played a news reporter, a simple actress caught up in political conspiracy and intrigue, and even a prostitute. Although many of her roles are in what might be considered smaller productions, and have similar traits due to her affinity for period dramas, Garai brings a quiet grace and kindliness to the parts she plays, a girlish spirit that makes her likable, and a strength that is palpable even through the constraints of playing women in time periods where they were thought to be little more than property and pawns. She's not just a pretty face people can want or want to be, she skillfully plays women that both genders can respect, admire, and relate to. Yet She Isn't Given Credit For... Despite her usually prim and proper appearance, Garai can also play driven and passionate to the point of distress or mental instability. In Emma, she is a woman so guided by her own romantic view of the world, she drives herself to unhappiness, and audiences both want to smack her for her flighty naivete and praise her emotional complexities as a young woman. In her role in The Crimson Petal and the White, where she played a prostitute from the 1800s, gone were her delicate mannerisms and gaiety, or the suppressed strength exhibited in her well to do characters. She was filthy and crude, commanding and conniving, and frankly a little bit sickening. And she still managed to maintain an understated power that gave her destitute character a feeling of potential and radiance. It is a shame that her self-admitted love of smaller productions has in some ways stunted the attention this young actress has received.
