Sometimes you'll hear an idea for a movie that sounds like such genuine, bonafide dynamite, that you literally stop whatever it is you're doing to ponder its inherent brilliance. So good is this idea, that you enter a state of perpetual giddiness for the entire build-up to its release, 'cause how can this thing go wrong, right? It's too freakin' good! Deep down, we all know how dangerous having high expectations can be, but with concepts like
these, there's no way that anybody could spoil the material. And yet the world takes a certain pleasure in ridiculing the schmucks who put their honest faith in people they've never met. That's to say, great concepts aren't always tied to a great final product, because that's life. Take the 10 movies we've assembled here, all of which were attached to some seriously awesome movie concepts that ended up being horribly, tragically wasted. Reduced to middling, mis-judged or (perhaps worst of all) mediocre pictures, we still can't get over the fact that the filmmakers who had such amazing concepts to work with managed to screw things up so badly. So much so, in fact, that we're still praying that every one of these films gets a remake...
