10 Awesome Movie Jobs We Wish Existed In Real Life

Real life jobs can be a real drag, such that it's no surprise we often retreat into the world of film for escapism, and if the awesome explosions and brilliantly imaginative stories aren't enough, you might end up wondering what it'd be like to live in this world; to walk around, talk to people, and even have a job. And I'm not talking about being a secretary at Stark Towers or something - though as far as secretarial positions go, that'd be pretty damn awesome, albeit hazardous - but the awesome jobs that just don't exist outside of a cinema screen. I'm talking about the jobs we all said we wanted to have as kids, before realising there wasn't much demand for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle in the real world. We might get older, but our desire for these awesome cinematic professions to become a reality holds stead-fast. Here are 10 awesome movie jobs we wish existed in real life...

10. Truman Show Actor (The Truman Show)

Awesomeness Level: 5/10. Alright, compared to a lot of jobs on this list, it's not spectacular, but it'd still be pretty damn incredible to be a part of the world's most widely-kept secret, that Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) is in fact living his life inside the artificially constructed confines of a gigantic TV studio, and every single person he has ever met is just an actor reading a script. Being an extra might be a bit dull, but if you can score one of the meatier supporting roles, say as Truman's best buddy, a member of his family or a work colleague, you know that you're going to be riding the gravy train for a good while. Given that the show broadcasts 24 hours a day, it has to be pretty demanding on the cast, but one imagines they're extremely well compensated given the show's success. Risk of Death: 2/10. Acting isn't a notoriously dangerous career, though with the risk of being killed by a falling lighting rig (which in the film is dismissed as a bit of airplane debris), this high-concept operation isn't as safe as most TV productions.
