There are more superhero movies in production now than ever before, and 2018 sure has been a standout year for the genre without question.
There were surprisingly few duds among the mainstream theatrical releases, and from long-awaited comic book sequels to brand new interpretations of classic IP, the vast majority delivered on their epic potential.
To that end, the year's superhero movies served up their fair share of unforgettable cinematic moments, from hysterical comedy gags to poignant death scenes, outrageous credits tags and even a poignant tribute or two to a certain departed industry legend (you all know who it is).
Years from now, these scenes will still be embedded in all our brains, and as encouraging as 2019's slate of superhero movies might be looking, they're going to have to work hard to one-up this lot.
