Just when you thought you'd seen it all on the big-screen, 2023 came along and showed you there's always room for things to get a little crazier.

A year promising features containing drugged up mammals, jumps into the Quantum Realm, and creepy robot companions was always set to deliver a few shocking and unexpected moments, sure. But no one was honestly ready for just how deranged everything from the latest instalments in the MCU to 2023's newest batch of unsettling horror pictures would ultimately get.

Be warned, though, this list is certainly not for the faint-hearted.

It may boast a few lighter moments of madness, but there are also a ton of other disturbing, gruesome, and entirely unhinged 2023 occurrences here that are pretty difficult to erase from your innocent mind once you lay your eyes on them, folks.

So, if you're truly ready to never unsee distressing bath-time sequences, deeply uncomfortable moments of intimacy, and some completely outrageous reveals, then let's take a closer look at those 2023 movies that contained demented events you won't be able to get out of your head.

Some major spoilers ahead, of course!

10. Talking To Riley - Talk To Me

No Hard Feelings
A24

Danny and Michael Philippou's chilling directorial debut Talk to Me is a properly terrifying film crammed full of horrific visuals.

Away from the bold opening scene which sees a youngster stabbing themselves in the face, or some of the utterly horrendous glimpses of hell, though, it's the first moment Mia's best mate's brother Riley is possessed after finally being allowed to touch the mysterious hand at the centre of the story that really sticks with you post-viewing.

With it already being established that a handshake with this object - along with uttering the words "talk to me" - will result in the person involved briefly communicating with a dead person, and even being possessed by them after saying "I let you in", the innocent youngster is soon dragged into a horrific sequence.

Despite initially agreeing to only allow Riley to stay connected for 50-seconds instead of the usual 90-second limit, the fact Mia's deceased mother Rhea ends up sitting opposite Riley leads to the shocked daughter trying to keep her around for as long as possible.

Sure enough, the time limit being exceeded then results in Riley being frighteningly taken by the spirits.

The unsettling never-ending seconds of the young lad spluttering, the sudden, violent way his head then collides with the table, the grotesque visual of Riley trying to yank out his own eyeball, and bloody attempts to end his own life due to the demons within, won't leave your mind in a hurry once you let them in.
