10 Dead Characters Returning For Future Movie Sequels

Wonder Woman's Steve Trevor died... But he got better.

2018 was a watershed moment for characters shaking off death to return to major blockbuster franchises. Not only did Darth Maul come back for Solo but Red Skull - long considered killed in Captain America: The First Avenger - made his grand return as the Soul Stone guardian in Avengers: Infinity War.

This isn't entirely a new phenomenon, of course: Superman came back in Justice League as recently as 2017, Chev Chelios shrugged off death in Crank: High Voltage and Spock did it well before them all. Even the most obvious of deaths can be healed if you will it strongly enough - or if the return of said character would benefit the studio financially - so it should come as no surprise that the next few years will see a number of character we KNOW to be dead returning to this mortal realm.

Death is just the start of another adventure.

How He Died

Doctor Strange was one of the unfortunate heroes clicked away to dust when Thanos used the Infinity Gauntlet to cause the Decimation. He died telling Tony Stark that this was the only way Thanos could be defeated. Now that's real sacrifice.

But Wait...

As part of Marvel's commitment to not entirely spoiling Avengers: Endgame, they claimed that everyone who died in Infinity War was going to stay dead. Unfortunately, since then they've also officially confirmed that Doctor Strange 2 is happening and that Scott Derrickson is returning to direct.

Unless he plans on making a movie about an entirely different doctor called Strange, he's got to have his leading character back. And he will have.

Will It Be Explained?

It will. In Endgame. When the snap is undone and none of the original victims actually die.
