So whether it is the thrill of sport, or just some bloodlust that needs quenching, here are 10 films with the structured elimination of opponents all vying for the same prize, often times with their morality as the cost.

With "The Hunger Games" breaking box-office records in its opening night, and more recently "Battle Royale€˜s" American 3D release, it is clear that all of us enjoy a good competition. Something about players fighting and outwitting their adversaries really gets the adrenaline pumping. So whether it is the thrill of sport, or just some bloodlust that needs quenching, here are 10 films with the structured elimination of opponents all vying for the same prize, often times with their morality as the cost.

10. Pokemon: The First Movie

If you€™re unfamiliar with the Japanese phenomenon, the story revolves around these teen trainers who inexplicably are allowed to force pokemon, creatures of various and inventive fighting attributes, to duke it out for their trainer€™s glory. In the film, a psychic pokemon named Mewtwo is created in a mad science experiment gone wrong, and he€™s disgusted at the plight of poke-kind. So he kidnaps a bunch of trainers, clones their pokemon, and then FORCES the originals to battle their clone counterparts. Essentially, Pokemon is the ORIGINAL battle royale.

9. Scott Pilgrim vs The World

Young Scott€™s love life is in a rut. His career and band are also in ruts, but that€™s another story. This all changes when he meets Ramona, "a girl with hair like this", and falls madly in love with her. But Ramona carries baggage, in the form of Seven Evil Exes bent on destroying Scott for supremacy of Ramona€™s love life. Visually stunning and done in a style harking back to 90s arcade era, it fulfills every delusional video game lover€™s dream of fighting for what you cherish most of all, only with a health bar involved.
