Mia Farrow has been one of Hollywood's most renowned actresses for her work on screen as well as her life off screen. She was married to the legendary Frank Sinatra, created quite a buzz when she cut her hair short in the 60s, was in a famous and then infamous relationship with Woody Allen, and made adopting 3rd world children fashionable way before Angelina Jolie ever did. Her work onscreen has been just as prophetic as her real life, and she has provided us with some of the most memorable performances in film history, yet her work has been nominated for an Oscar. She rose to super stardom in 1968 with Rosemary's Baby, a brilliant dark fable about a woman who may or may not be carrying the child of the devil. Farrow is top notch as a woman at her absolute most vulnerable and she carries a demon spawn as well as the film with her performance. Rosemary's Baby was a resounding success, yet she was overlooked for her work and was shafted for a Best Actress Oscar. I It was her work with Woody Allen in the 1980s, though, that brought her the most recognition, yet not a single Oscar nomination. Actresses in Woody Allen films fare pretty well with the Academy (11 nominated performances in total), yet Farrow was never part of that group, as she was shut out during one of Allen's most creative periods. Her work in Allen's Broadway Danny Rose, The Purple Rose Of Cairo, Hannah And Her Sisters and Alice were all bravura and versatile performances all deserving of a Best Actress nomination, yet for some reason the Academy kept the snubs coming. These days Farrow is in semi-retirement appearing in small cameos in indie films.
