10 Horror Movies You'll Never Watch Again (And Why)

Sometimes once is more than enough.

Horror is quite possibly the most hit-and-miss of all film genres. There is a fine line between scaring cinemagoers and putting them off and between giving a bloodthirsty audience just the right amount of gore and being gratuitously gruesome, and in a genre where fans are evermore savvy, desensitised and un-shockable it’s difficult to maintain momentum and chill factor.

Perhaps one of the biggest challenges facing a horror movie is achieving a re-watchability factor. When an audience knows where the jump scares are and has seen all the gore before, it’s hard to recapture their attention in the same way again the second time around.

Whereas some horrors are totally re-watchable – a classic horror like The Shining, for example, or something crammed full of Easter eggs and genre references like Shaun of the Dead – others simply don’t encourage a second viewing be it because of an anticlimactic ending, violence that crosses the boundaries of taste and decency or simply not having the scare factor.

Here are ten horrors you won’t be rushing to watch again in a hurry.
