10 Horror Short Films Hollywood Should Adapt To Full Length

7. White With Red

White with Red, adapted by Brandon Christensen from a well-known Creepypasta online urban legend, involves the horror of a man who's staying at a motel for the night and peeks into the neighbouring room, finding a strange, white-clad, long haired figure in the corner. His curiosity getting the better of him, he looks again the next day, only to see nothing but red.

The urban legend's twist may work best in short form, but motel room horror and urban legends make for great atmospheric filmmaking, especially if the main character is haunted—both literally and figuratively—by his own curiosity.

Hotel and motel horror stories are particularly effective for the possibility of terrible things happening in a place visited by hundreds of people, and ghost stories of the same are, with all the splatter films of the same setting, surprisingly rare in comparison. And though a character's presence is, by nature, transient, the concept of an unrelated ghost following him home is a terrifying thought.

As is the concept of a red-eyed ghost who'll follow you home if you can't keep your curiosity in check. Franchises have been built on less.
