10 Most Important Star Wars Characters Not In The Movies

3. (Darth) Revan

For fans of Star Wars: Knight of The Old Republic, The Old Republic, and other stories about that period, Revan is a name that pops up frequently; and for good reason, as he is one of the most significant characters of that era, least of all because he is the playable character in Star Wars: KOTOR. Revan went through many experiences throughout his life: he was trained as a Jedi, he was a fighter in the Mandalorian Wars (in which he defeated Mandalore the Ultimate), was christened as a Sith Lord and became the creator of his own Sith civilization, he was deceived by his own apprentice Darth Malak (whom he later defeated), and then was redeemed by Bastila Shan. He also destroyed a powerful artifact in the Star Forge. His defeat of Mandalore the Ultimate was especially poignant; he managed to convince many Jedi to rally to his side as the Council and the Republic both failed to come up with a solution to counter this massive threat. Without him, the Mandalorians would€™ve likely conquered or destroyed the Old Republic. He was an instrumental force in Sith teachings and power structure, becoming a major actor that led to the Jedi Civil War. In later years, another Sith Lord took his name and played a role in the New Sith Wars. All in all, he was a major influence in the Galaxy. IGN ranked him as the 12th best Star Wars character (out of 100), and is widely considered to be one of the best characters capable of standing alongside the film characters in terms of magnitude and significance to the Star Wars Universe. He is certainly someone that true fans of Star Wars should know of, even if he never appeared in any of the major films.
