10 Incredibly Subtle Ways Movies Gave Away Their Endings

8. Marcus Reveals His Own Secret Project - Star Trek Into Darkness

You'd think that any villain who was living a double-life and secretly building a death machine that they didn't want anyone to know about lest their nefarious true agenda be uncovered would be pretty good at hiding things. But not Admiral Marcus - played by Peter Weller - in Star Trek Into Darkness.

Perhaps because everyone was looking at clues for John Harrison's true identity (since JJ Abrams had said he DEFINITELY REALLY wasn't Khan ahead of release), audience members simply weren't looking for other hints of identity subversion. So they would have missed the fact that Marcus literally has a key revelation about his identity sitting in his office.

When Kirk and Spock visit him to strategise over Harrison/Not Khan, he walks by a small scale (but very notable) model of the USS Vengeance, the secret warship that he'd been keeping secret from the rest of Starfleet as part of his conspiracy to start a war with the Klingons. Talk about hiding clues in plain sight.
