10 Legitimate Criticisms Of The Dark Knight Rises

10. The Fall From The Climb Would Have Broken Batman€™s Back

Fall Nolan was quite smart to alter the breaking of the Bat. Maintaining the imagery and phrasing (who wasn€™t gleefully on the edge of their seat when Bane drolly said €œI will break you€?) he lessened the severity of the injury (now it was €˜just€™ a dislocated vertebrae, not a full on broken back). While this allowed for Bruce€™s seemingly speedy recovery, for some reason once he was up and walking Nolan decided to put him through something much more dangerous than being thrown on a hulk€™s knee. Bruce fails twice attempting getting out of the pit, both times free falling a few seconds before being caught by the rope. These moments are as flinch inducing as the Joker€™s pencil trick or knife attacks and yet he€™s meant to walk away unscathed. Even if you€™re willing to overlook the effects of putting a recovering spine under that much trauma, a fall like that with such a sudden stop (that rope has no give in it and has only one point of contact) would have snapped his back in half. I'm OK with a vertibrae being smacked back into place, but I don€™t buy this painless fall. Not one big.
